Elk Grove, CA (June 1, 2026) – Two people are dead, and two others were hospitalized after a high-speed crash early Monday morning in Elk Grove, according to the Elk Grove Police Department. An officer spotted a Hyundai just after 4 a.m. on the east end of Brown Road and deemed the vehicle suspicious. As the officer moved to approach, one person ran away.
The Hyundai then sped westbound on Brown Road at high speed before colliding with a Tesla at the intersection of Elk Grove Florin and Brown roads, police said.
Four people were inside the Tesla. Two were killed at the scene. The other two were transported to a hospital; their conditions are unknown. Two juveniles from the Hyundai were detained. The person who fled on foot was not among those taken into custody.
