Fresno, CA - Driver Hospitalized in Big Rig Crash on Hwy 99

Fresno, CA (May 31, 2025) – A driver was hospitalized with serious injuries when a Ford Taurus rear-ended a stopped commercial truck on southbound Highway 99 near Fresno Street, California Highway Patrol reports.

CHP says the big rig had pulled over onto the shoulder due to mechanical issues when the Taurus, traveling at high speed without a seatbelt, struck the trailer. The impact caused major damage to the Taurus.

Emergency responders arrived and transported the injured driver to a local hospital. CHP’s Fresno office is investigating whether reckless driving or other factors contributed to the collision.
