Gilroy, CA – Pedestrian Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collison on US Highway 101 northbound, near the Bailey Rd on-ramp

Gilroy, CA - Pedestrian Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on US-101

Gilroy, CA (July 07, 2025) – A pedestrian was injured in a multi-vehicle collision on US Highway 101 northbound, near the Bailey Rd on-ramp, in Gilroy on Monday evening. The incident was reported around 7:11 p.m., prompting lane closures and emergency medical response.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a total of four to five vehicles were involved in the collision, with at least two vehicles suffering significant damage. Witnesses suggested that a black SUV might have played a role in the incident. One individual was seen walking southbound along the right shoulder of the northbound lanes after the crash.

Emergency crews arrived quickly, confirming that injuries had occurred and classifying the incident as a traffic collision with injuries (1181). Tow trucks were dispatched to clear the wreckage, and partial lane blockages were reported. All lanes were reopened by 7:55 p.m.

It remains unclear whether the pedestrian was struck during the chain-reaction collision or if they were involved in another capacity. Authorities continue their investigation into the incident, looking into factors such as speed, right-of-way violations, and visibility.

We hope for the full recovery of the injured pedestrian.

Pedestrian Accidents in California

Pedestrian accidents in California often occur along busy roads like Figueroa Street, El Camino Real, and Broadway, where foot traffic crosses paths with speeding or distracted drivers. Intersections without signals, poorly marked crosswalks, and congested urban streets increase the risk of impact. These collisions frequently lead to severe injuries, including leg fractures, head trauma, and internal damage. Pedestrians struck by vehicles rarely have time to react or avoid the collision, and recovery often involves hospitalization, rehabilitation, and long-term care. Crashes near schools, shopping centers, and public transit stop disproportionately affect some of the most vulnerable road users. Seeking help from a knowledgeable pedestrian accident lawyer is crucial after a serious incident. In California, we serve injury victims in areas such as Sacramento, Folsom, and surrounding communities, so if you’ve been hurt in a crash, working with an experienced Sacramento pedestrian accident lawyer can make all the difference in protecting your rights and securing fair compensation.
