Modesto, CA – Pedestrian Injured in Hit-and-Run at Crows Landing Rd & Zeff Rd

Modesto, CA (July 28, 2025) – A pedestrian was injured in a hit-and-run crash early Monday morning at the intersection of Crows Landing Rd and Zeff Rd in Modesto. The incident, reported around 6:05 a.m., is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol under the hit-and-run injury statute, CVC 20001.

Emergency responders, including CHP units and medical personnel, quickly arrived at the scene after receiving reports of a person struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. The victim, found with injuries consistent with a high-impact collision, was treated on-site by paramedics before being transported to a nearby hospital for further care. The full extent of the injuries has not been disclosed.

The crash occurred in a high-speed area of Crows Landing Rd, south of downtown Modesto, where limited pedestrian infrastructure and reduced visibility during early morning hours could have contributed to the severity of the incident. Authorities have not yet released any details about the suspect vehicle and are actively searching for witnesses or surveillance footage to aid in the investigation.

The collision remains under investigation by CHP’s Modesto division. Authorities urge anyone with relevant information to contact them immediately.

Our thoughts are with the injured pedestrian, and we wish for a full and speedy recovery.

Pedestrian Accidents in California

Throughout California, pedestrian-vehicle collisions are unfortunately common. This is especially true in busy urban areas where pedestrians often share the road with vehicles. Regrettably, recent statistics have positioned California as one of the most hazardous states for pedestrians in the United States, with a high rate of pedestrian injuries and fatalities. The Sacramento metropolitan area itself ranks as one of the worst for pedestrian safety in the nation.

When these pedestrian accidents occur, they often result in severe or potentially fatal injuries, as pedestrians have no protection. Given the prevalence of these incidents, it is crucial to retain competent legal representation by an experienced Sacramento pedestrian accident lawyer to protect your best interests.
