What Are Your Legal Options After an Intersection Crash in California?
Intersection collisions like this one are among the most common types of serious crashes, and they often raise immediate questions about who had the right of way. Here’s what to know if you or a loved one was injured.
Determining right of way is often central. Crashes at intersections frequently come down to which driver had a red light, stop sign, or right of way, and which driver failed to yield. A careful review of the police report, traffic signal timing, and any available witness accounts or video footage can help establish what happened.
Injuries from intersection crashes can be serious. T-bone and other intersection-style collisions often produce significant impact forces, resulting in injuries that require extensive treatment. Compensation may be available to help cover medical bills, lost income, and pain and suffering.
Vehicle damage can tell part of the story. The extent and location of damage to both vehicles, described here as major front-end and axle damage, can help investigators and attorneys reconstruct how the crash occurred.
Time limits matter. California generally allows two years from the date of a crash to file a claim, though early legal guidance helps ensure evidence like the vehicles and any surveillance footage are preserved before they’re lost.
Every case is different, and no outcome can be guaranteed. But understanding your rights early gives you the best chance of protecting them.
