Vallejo, CA - Woman Struck and Killed on Sidewalk Near Broadway Street and Mahogany Drive

Vallejo, CA (July 30, 2026) – A woman died after she was struck by a car that left the roadway and crashed onto a sidewalk in Vallejo, according to the Vallejo Police Department.

The crash happened around 1:12 p.m. on July 30, 2026, at the intersection of Broadway Street and Mahogany Drive.

Police say a car was traveling west on Tuolumne Street when it entered the intersection, left the roadway, and crashed into several parked vehicles before striking the woman on the sidewalk.

She suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital, where she later died. Another person, who was inside one of the parked cars that was struck, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to a hospital for evaluation.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police say intoxication does not appear to have been a factor in the crash. The Vallejo Police Department continues to investigate.

This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.

Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Vallejo, CA

When a car leaves the roadway and strikes someone on a sidewalk, the driver can be held responsible for the resulting injuries and death. Acting early helps preserve the evidence that determines what actually happened.

  • Who may be liable: the driver of the vehicle that left the roadway, and potentially a vehicle manufacturer or repair shop if a mechanical failure played a role
  • What investigators examine: the car’s speed, its steering and braking function, and why it left the travel lane
  • California follows a pure comparative fault rule, so a family’s ability to recover is not automatically barred even if another party shares some responsibility
  • Under California law (CCP § 335.1), a wrongful death claim generally must be filed within two years of the date of death, which here would be by July 30, 2028.

Losing someone on a sidewalk, in a place that should have been safe, is a shock a family should never have to make sense of alone.
