West Sacramento, CA (May 28, 2026) – A bicyclist died Thursday night following a crash with a vehicle in West Sacramento, according to the West Sacramento Police Department.
The collision occurred after 8 p.m. near the intersection of Industrial Boulevard and Harbor Boulevard, police said. The identity of the bicyclist has not been released.
According to police, the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with officers. Investigators said DUI is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
Eastbound Industrial Boulevard was closed between Harbor Boulevard and Boatman Avenue in the aftermath of the incident, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
When a bicyclist loses their life on a public road, the people left behind carry questions that need real answers, not just a police report. California law gives families the right to pursue those answers and seek accountability.
Bicycle Accident Deaths in Sacramento, CA
Losing a family member in a crash like this is devastating. If you are the spouse, parent, child, or domestic partner of the bicyclist killed in this crash, California law may allow you to bring a wrongful death claim against the responsible party. Here is what families need to know right now:
- You have a deadline. Under California Code of Civil Procedure § 335.1, a wrongful death claim must generally be filed within two years of the date of the crash. Acting early preserves evidence and witness accounts before they disappear.
- Fault must be investigated, not assumed. The fact that DUI was ruled out does not resolve the question of negligence. Driver inattention, failure to yield, speeding, road defects, poor lighting, and inadequate signage are all independent grounds for liability. An attorney-led investigation can determine what actually caused this crash.
- Evidence disappears quickly. Surveillance footage near the intersection, vehicle event data, and physical evidence at the scene can be lost within days. A legal hold letter can preserve this material before it is overwritten or destroyed.
- You can pursue civil and criminal matters separately. A civil wrongful death claim runs on its own timeline and does not depend on any criminal charges being filed or proved.
- A free consultation carries no obligation. Speaking with an attorney costs nothing and locks in nothing. It simply ensures you understand your rights before making any decisions.
