Ontario, CA (May 5, 2024) – Authorities in Ontario say that after a pursuit, a serious accident, and an attempted carjacking on Sunday, an innocent motorist died.
Police began pursuing the suspect following a roughly 30-minute standoff around 10:30 a.m., and police chased him via surface streets and the 60 Freeway, where he allegedly crashed into oncoming traffic. After getting off the expressway, he collided with several other cars around Philadelphia Street and Grove Avenue. The driver of one of the other cars, according to police, passed away after being taken to a nearby hospital. At least two others also sustained injuries. The suspect was declared dead after an officer-involved shooting. No further details were released in the interim, however.
Our deepest condolences go out to the deceased victim’s family. Our thoughts go out to the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery.
