Sutter County, CA (June 26, 2024) – A crop duster plane hit a truck Tuesday after a failed takeoff in Sutter County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened near Nicolaus Avenue and Pleasant Grove Road, east of East Nicolaus. A spokesperson with the Yuba-Sutter office said the crop duster didn’t have enough lift when taking off from an airstrip. The plane clipped a gate at the end of the runway and descended across the road, where it hit a Ford F-150. About 280 gallons of fuel spilled, according to California Highway Patrol. The truck driver was taken to a hospital, though their current condition is unknown. The Federal Aviation Administration also arrived at the scene to investigate, but no further details were released.
