Copperopolis, CA (September 15, 2024) – The California Highway Patrol reported a major car crash on Friday morning, September 13, in Calaveras County, about two miles west of Copperopolis.
According to the CHP, troopers were dispatched around 6:55 a.m. to Highway 4 just west of Horseshoe Lane. It was unclear what caused the apparent head-on crash, but two vehicles were involved, and a possible major injury was reported. The impact caused nearby grass to catch fire and burned less than an acre, CHP said. Both vehicles were also burned. Drugs and alcohol don’t appear to be a factor in the crash at this time, per the CHP, but the cause is still under investigation.
