Malibu, CA – Authorities are actively searching for a missing person two days following a car accident that took place when a vehicle went off a cliff just northwest of Malibu. The incident remained unreported until recently.
The Ventura County Fire Department reported that the vehicle plunged over the side of a road on Saturday, specifically in the vicinity of Deer Creek Road and Pacific Coast Highway. Remarkably, one occupant of the car managed to escape and left the scene using another vehicle without notifying 911.
However, on Monday, this individual returned to the site and informed authorities about two people who were missing following the crash. Immediately after, a search team was dispatched, which was able to quickly identify that one of the missing occupants was safe at home.
The search is ongoing for the second missing person. As of now, it remains unclear why the driver did not report the crash or the individuals who were missing right after the accident. Authorities are employing a range of resources in their efforts, including helicopters, drones, K-9 teams, and specialized search-and-rescue crews, to locate the missing individual during nighttime hours.
