Indian entrepreneur Kuldeep Dhankar recently shared how his Apple Watch played a vital role in helping him survive a car crash. He recounted his experience on X, posting a photo of his damaged car taken on a U.S. highway next to a police officer inspecting the scene.

Mr. Dhankar, who is the founder of Last9.io, explained that he was stationary in traffic on Interstate 5 when another vehicle crashed into his car from behind. The remarkable crash detection feature of his Apple Watch immediately recognized the impact, promptly calling emergency services. Thanks to the swift response from the device and the California Highway Patrol, help arrived within minutes. This allowed Mr. Dhankar to continue his journey with minimal interruption.

“Got rear-ended by a car while we were at a standstill in traffic on the I-5 yesterday. The car behind was probably a total loss (we are perfectly safe). Apple Watch detected the crash and auto-called 911, and there was an officer on the scene within minutes. We were able to leave in 30 minutes and got to our destination safely. So impressed by Apple Watch and California Highway Patrol,” he wrote.

His post, shared just a few hours prior, has quickly drawn over 41,000 views, with netizens expressing both relief and admiration. One user remarked, “Glad to know that you and the others are safe. Its advanced health-tracking features, such as the ECG function, detected atrial fibrillation, prompting the woman to seek urgent care.

Nikias Molina shared his own experience on X, detailing how the Apple Watch Series 10 identified his grandmother’s irregular heartbeat. “My Apple Watch Series 10 detected my grandmother’s atrial fibrillation today using the ECG feature. She’s now at the hospital and receiving the care she needs. I still can’t believe it,” he wrote, accompanied by a picture of the watch alert.
