Menifee, CA – A boy riding an e-scooter was struck and injured by a box truck on Thursday afternoon in Menifee, California, according to authorities. The incident occurred when the child was using a crosswalk at the intersection of Craig Avenue and Evans Road.
Shortly after 3 p.m., as reported by Menifee Police Department spokesperson Chase Coburn, a box truck was traveling through the intersection when the collision took place. The young rider, whose identity remains undisclosed, was heading north on Evans and entered the crosswalk to cross Craig when the box truck, traveling westbound, struck him.
Emergency responders arrived promptly on the scene. The truck driver halted immediately and awaited the police. Riverside County Fire Department paramedics assessed the boy, revealing that he had sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was subsequently transported to a regional trauma center for further treatment and was recovering as of Friday. The boyโs exact age has not been disclosed.
Following the incident, no citations have been issued as the investigation continues. Patrol officers questioned the driver, who was found not to be impaired, according to Coburn.
