[01-08-2025] – Big Rig Overturns on 210 Freeway in Fontana; SigAlert Issued

Fontana, CA — Authorities are now investigating the incident as a fatal traffic accident. On Wednesday morning, a SigAlert was issued after a big rig overturned on the westbound 210 freeway in Fontana.

The accident took place around 9:26 AM on January 8, 2025, on the transition road connecting the 210 freeway to the southbound I-15 freeway. According to reports from California Highway Patrol (CHP), the semi-truck flipped over, trapping the driver inside the vehicle.

Units from San Bernardino County Fire responded swiftly to the scene, confirming that they needed to extricate the driver from the cab. Around 10:45 AM, fire officials reported that the extrication was successfully completed, and the driver was transported to a local trauma center in “grave condition.”

In addition to this incident, the trailer was found on its side, blocking both lanes of the transition road, necessitating a hard closure by CalTrans to manage the situation. A SigAlert was officially issued for both the westbound 210 to southbound I-15 connector and the southbound I-15 to eastbound I-210 connector, although the length of the closure is currently unclear.

There were also reports of a second tractor-trailer overturning in close proximity. Thankfully, the driver of this second vehicle managed to self-extricate and did not sustain any injuries.

The investigation into these incidents is being handled by the California Highway Patrol Inland Division.
