El Dorado Hills, CA — A collision involving a semi-truck and at least three other vehicles on February 20, 2025, left one person dead and three others injured.
The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Green Valley Road at Francisco Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a Peterbilt semi-truck hauling an excavator on a flatbed trailer was traveling west when, for unknown reasons, it veered into the eastbound lane, colliding with multiple vehicles before leaving the roadway and coming to rest approximately 30 feet off the road.
The driver of the semi-truck, a 48-year-old man from Weimer, was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash also involved a Tesla Model Y, a Hyundai Elantra, and a Toyota Tundra. The Tesla’s driver and passenger, along with the driver of the Hyundai, sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene. The Toyota Tundra sustained minor damage but no reported injuries.
A social media post from the Office of Spill Prevention and Response confirmed that diesel fuel had leaked from the semi-truck, with some reaching a nearby creek. However, officials stated there were no observed impacts on wildlife, and Folsom Lake and Browns Ravine remained unaffected.
The trucking company, Harvest Hauling LLC of Meadow Vista, is responsible for the cleanup efforts. Multiple agencies are investigating the cause of the accident, and further details will be released as they become available.
