Brentwood, CA – Two Killed in Head-On Collision on Hwy 4

Brentwood, CA (May 21, 2025) – Two people were killed when two vehicles collided head-on on eastbound Highway 4 near Fairview Avenue, the California Highway Patrol reports.

The crash occurred around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday just east of Balfour Road. One of the vehicles, an electric SUV, caught fire, delaying emergency access as crews contained the battery blaze.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene; no other occupants have been confirmed. Contra Costa County Fire District personnel assisted CHP in managing the fire and securing the site.

The CHP continues to investigate the cause of the collision.
