[12-03-2024] – Fatal Shooting Incident in Compton: Man Kills Woman Before Taking His Own Life

Compton, CA – On Monday night in Compton, a tragic shooting unfolded, as a man fatally shot a woman before taking his own life. The incident occurred after the suspect deliberately crashed his car into a vehicle where the woman and another individual were seated.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriffโ€™s Department, police received reports of the shooting at approximately 11:07 p.m. The incident took place in the 900 block of South Central Avenue, where the victim and another man were inside their vehicle when the suspect slammed into them.

Once the crash occurred, the victims exited their car. The gunman then opened fire on the man as he fled toward a nearby gas station, sheriffโ€™s officials reported. Following that, he pursued the woman, firing at her as she sought refuge in a nearby business.

The woman was tragically pronounced dead at the scene, while the suspect was later discovered inside the business with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Emergency responders treated him at the scene before transporting him to a nearby hospital, where he was also pronounced dead.

Fortunately, the other victim was not struck by any bullets; however, he was taken to a hospital due to injuries likely sustained from the car crash.

Detectives are investigating the case and do not believe that the crash and the shooting were random acts. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriffโ€™s Department, they are currently looking into the relationship between the suspected shooter and the two victims.

Authorities have reported that a weapon was recovered at the scene. Additional details about the incident have yet to be released.
