Turlock, CA – In a devastating incident on Sunday morning, at least four individuals lost their lives, including a teenager, following a serious accident in the Central Valley. The California Highway Patrol reported receiving a call around 9:25 a.m. regarding a collision on State Route 165 at Greenway Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers discovered two vehicles that had sustained significant damage. The crash involved six people, comprising two teenagers and two young adults. Tragically, a 16-year-old girl from Turlock was pronounced dead after succumbing to her injuries at Doctors Medical Center.
According to preliminary investigations, a 22-year-old man from Modesto was driving a 2008 Infiniti sedan at a high rate of speed, heading northbound on SR-165. As he approached Greenway Avenue, he collided with the left side of a 2023 Jeep SUV that was traveling west on Greenway Avenue. Authorities indicated that the Jeep was entering the intersection just as the Infiniti struck it.
The man driving the Infiniti was not wearing his seatbelt and tragically died at the scene. Further, a 54-year-old male driver and a 45-year-old female passenger, both from Turlock, also succumbed to their injuries at the site of the accident. The deceased teenager was seated in the left rear of the Jeep.
Additionally, the Jeep carried a 19-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy from Turlock, both of whom sustained major injuries and were transported to local trauma centers for treatment. Remarkably, all occupants of the Jeep were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
Currently, it remains uncertain whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. The collision necessitated a temporary closure of the roadway between Lander and Simmons Avenue.
