Sacramento, CA (May 9, 2024) – According to firefighters, a victim in a North Highlands residence was killed following a major house fire on Thursday morning, May 9.
Just before 8:00 a.m., workers with Metro Fire of Sacramento arrived on the scene along Grouse Court. Firefighters discovered major smoke and flames shooting from the windows, and the crew received reports that a person was trapped inside. The missing individual was located inside by rews. Per Metro Fire, the individual was declared deceased shortly thereafter despite the life-saving measures attempted. It’s unclear if any other injuries occurred as a result of the fire. The cause of the fire also remains under investigation, though witnesses or others who may have additional information were asked to get in touch with the Sacramento Police Department.
