[02-09-2025] – 71-Year-Old Woman Killed in Elk Grove Pedestrian Incident

Sacramento, CA – A tragic incident occurred on Sunday night, when a 71-year-old woman was sadly struck and killed by a vehicle while attempting to cross Elk Grove Florin Road in Sacramento County. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Nam Hoa Chiem, a resident of Sacramento.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Chiem was crossing Elk Grove Florin Road at the intersection of Robbins Road when she was impacted by a Subaru Outback. The vehicle, driven by a 78-year-old man, was traveling at an estimated speed of 40 mph in the left-most lane heading southbound on Elk Grove Florin Road at the time of the accident.

Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene, but unfortunately, Chiem succumbed to her injuries and was declared dead at the location, as reported by CHP’s South Sacramento office. The driver of the Subaru remained at the scene following the crash and has been cooperating with law enforcement officials.

At this moment, there have been no additional details made available regarding any potential contributing factors to this incident, and the investigation continues. We wish to express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Nam Hoa Chiem during this immensely difficult time.
