Oroville, CA (June 6, 2024) – The California Highway Patrol reported that a pickup truck rear-ended a vehicle on Wednesday afternoon, June 5, resulting in the deaths of two individuals.
According to CHP troopers, the collision occurred at approximately noon on Highway 70 northbound, just before the exit to Montgomery Street in Oroville. Officers say the incident took place when a Ram pickup truck rear-ended a Volkswagen, though the events leading up to the collision remain unknown. Both individuals who were inside the Volkswagen were declared deceased at the site. The driver of the pickup truck sustained minor injuries, though it’s unclear if they were taken to a hospital.
