Fresno, CA — Sokhoeun Sem Long, a 47-year-old resident of Fresno, has been identified as the victim of a tragic accident that occurred early on Tuesday morning, November 26, 2024, on Highway 180.
The California Highway Patrol indicated that the accident took place just after 5:30 AM amidst heavy rainfall. Long was riding as a passenger in a 2017 Toyota Tundra that was heading west on Highway 180 when the driver lost control due to the slick road conditions. The truck collided with a concrete bridge wall, became airborne, and plummeted approximately 25 to 30 feet onto Highway 41 below.
Tragically, Long was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 54-year-old man, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities discovered that the driver had a suspended license; however, they confirmed that neither alcohol nor drugs were involved in this incident.
This unfortunate event underscores the risks associated with driving during adverse weather conditions. CHP officials have advised motorists to reduce their speed and ensure that their tires are in good shape to enhance safety while driving in rain.
